This week was not easy to me. I feel absolutely out of place, had a little cold and definitely ate too much sweet stuff. Anyway. I am not a model citizen lately. Some of my fantastic readers who read both my blog and follow my Instagram (you can be one of them, I'd love it!) asked me if I was going to post in my 'big', 'actual' blog about my latest museum time. To be honest I didn't plan to but then I thought why not. It at least half way compensates my absence online. Oh and my big vacation next week. Here is what I wore for the museum time out with my beautiful Mother.
We got tickets prior which is a big deal in Moscow. Local people LOVE exhibitions so if you don't book and buy tickets beforehand (we did a week before) you will have to wait in the queue. It is scary because it will take a lot of time. 3 hours if you are lucky.
My Mother love impressionists so there was no way she wanted to miss out this exhibition. It is curious. We are used to see art gathered due to some reason: time, place, art style. This time the reason was the original collectors. Yes it was an exhibition of art once gathered by talents of old Russian collector world, the brothers of Shchukin. Their interests varied brother from brother, with making the most of Impact with Impressionist art style and Sergei Shchukin. The collection of Henri Matisse and Paul Gauguin was huge and very impressive. It was very curious not only knowing the reasons of making some of paintings (for example La Dance was painted for Sergei Shchukin as per order). The Gauguin room has sadder story behind: suffering from loosing his wife he wanted to brighten up his life thus making a wall of cheerful and colorful Tahiti motives.
My outfit was very comfy. I wore jeans, long warm cardigan (it is always chilly in the museums) and heels. I like wearing heels to the 'smart' places, it helps me to move slower and appreciate art more. Glasses are important for moles like me to see better and headband helps to keep my hair off my face when I bend to see something closer (mostly those tiny plates with description)

ReplyDeleteI always find it interesting what people describe is art. Everyone has such different tastes. Sometimes paintings that look like a splash are worth millions! I love looking at illustrators and graphic designer's work the most. However, I love your outfit and wish I could look good in heels like yours!
