MaJac Collection: interview

Today I have an exciting post! Finally a new interview. This time it is a small and black owned brand MaJAc Collection. We know each other from Instagram (make sure to out her beautiful gram) and I am absolutely in love with her styles. I know you will love her creations as much as I did so dared to ask her for an interview. Today I am sharing it with you. Please meet Marie Lovely Eloi.

1 It may be a boring question but it is always curious. How did you start MaJAc Collection?

MaJAc Collection started when me and my husband started dating. As a young child, I’ve never had any interest in sewing until my last year in University. In 2013, i bought a sewing machine at Walmart and a few yards of fabric, elastic. I went on YouTube searching for circle skirt from there i made my first piece. A few years, i explained to my husband how i wished to sew like my mom. That’s how MaJAc ( mah-djak) started. At first it was MaJAc Designs then changed into MaJAc Collection.

2 What was the very first product you ever designed for MaJAc Collection?

The very first piece that hit my IG was a green african print gown with orange train. I made that piece for one of my friends. She was attending a wedding and that was when everybody knew i sew. I felt overjoyed that day

3 There are lots and lots vibrant and magical patterns in your collections. Where do you find inspiration for them?

Laugh... i love bright colors because they make me happy and i find most of my inspiration on Pinterest. Plus, i follow Stella Jean’s works. She mixes prints beautifully.

4 How does being a mother help you to be a better designer?

Honestly, I’m not a designer yet which I’d like to be one. As a new mom, i encounter a lot of challenges, but i always try to balance both.

5 the last question is something I always ask designers. they say creative people always do something about their toys when they are little. I know a hairdresser who made new short hair cuts for each doll overnight. Did you do something like that when you were little?

Unfortunately, I’ve never dreamt of being a “designer “. At first, i wanted to be a dancer, model, and singer. So, no i never destroyed my toys.

  4. Great interview with Marie Lovely Eloi. Glad that she proves that what you did with your toys in the past doesnt preview your future or else I would be an undertaker cause most of my G.I. Joes are buried in the backyard of my childhood home.
I do love Marie's designs though. These colors and patterns are so unique and pop. I really like that green dress and of course that pink and purple skirt is awesome. Love that her mom's skills in sewing helped motivate her to learn and become a better seamstress and ultimately a unique designer.

  50. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.

Happy Halloween

Don't you just loove  Halloween ?everybody does! This year we made it very special  decorating  everything, cutting a huge pumpkin and creating yammy  Halloween  food. We've celebrated this holiday at the exact date October 31st at home with friends. I chose the costume of intelligent witch (yeap, jedi costumes are not fair for Halloween) and finally worn my little black dress I wear so seldom. Max decided to come to usual role of ordinary Murre vampire. He's the best in this part.  Our little ghost this is my entery for IFB project #70 I was wearing: little black dress I own since I was 9 years old (I still more than fit in it) Topshop hat Jeffrey Campbell heels Chanel makeup   Have a nice day, Lyosha

Red and yellow

Did ever sit next your computer and have in fact nothing to say? That's what happens to me now.  I have wonderful outfit I wore simply to have a small walk with my dear husband which I actually put on because I wanted to look pretty and feminine. I didn't put a lot of effort in it, simply combining items which came in mind that time. Overall nothing special. I wanted to add some red in my look basically because have't worn it for ages. Do you remember my post about travel  ootd? - it was my last moment of wearing red. The coat I wear is my good old fave, a lot like friend you know. I don't wear it often but when I do I feel special. I can't help but add also a funny picture of me because it's Friday after all! I was wearing: Mango red coat Topshop bag Alba boots not branded skirt, top and scarf headband c/o Frontrowshop   Have a nice day, Lyosha

The gingerbread house

Mixing, remixing and matching. That's what we do so often that don't actually understand. I love feeling comfy and stylish at the same time so I need some remixing with cool comfy pants. That's why I tend to wear same pants so often esp when it goes to everyday life. I'm sorry but I'm not the one who snaps outfits everyday (I'm in Russia which means that I leave home for work when it's still dark and come back when it's dark already) so many out my ideas or layers stay not seen, This is an outfit that made it. Max and I went to get some shopping therapy to local mall. Our small camera was with us so we went to kid's sectore and took some photos. Why not?     I was wearing: Jacket c/o Oasap Glasses c/o Firmoo Pants c/o Motel Rocks Shoes Alba Coat Desigual   Have a nice day, Lyosha
