Hello!
I was wearing:
We didn't really explore Cancun before as tourist. I turned out we fully visited it only when we started living here. It is actually fun because we can explore it from two point of views at the same time. And giving it no rush over anything. Cancun has neatly separated tourist zone with nothing but hotels, eateries and some entertainment like big aquarium. It also has some ruins. In fact we have two set of small ruins here one are actual ruins of fishermen village of Cancun (it is believed to be translates as a snake nest which I personally adore with all my heart as not only I love reptiles but also often joke around I am either a reptile myself or at least been one in my past life or lives) and the other ruins are the ruins of the farm. The latter are located next to the big Maya museum (only city of Merida has it bigger), the entry is cheap and gives you access to both the museum are ruins/garden (bonus points for a huge number of iguanas there). We absolutely loved it there and as they often host temporary art exhibitions there I am sure we will come again and again for some art. The Mayan part of the museum is very educational, you can learn a lot of how they used to live, about their cultures and arts (as you can guess from the photos, I am a fan of pottery they showed). The focus is never set on the war matters despite the Yukatan peninsula bloody past and I am very grateful for that.
There also are Scorpion temple ruins on the way there right on the beach. The ruins are completely free and small but it worth the visit if you are around. Also it's very refreshing to stay there because of the breeze, can be handy if the day is hot (wasn't actually our case but still).
We walked all the way from our home to the museum and back and while it was a very long road we truly enjoyed it. Highly recommend exploring the tourist area on Cancun on foot, without taxies or buses (the buses are very cheap though, it's a great option to come back if you feel tired). The beaches of Cancun are divided and each has its own name and mostly you can see the difference in the beach corresponding to its name. I also find it pretty handy.
For the walk I wore a neon top that covered my shoulders just in case sunscreen might let me down. A hat to cover from the sun (I actually mostly wore it in my bag though because of the wind), a loose short dress and a small bag to carry my phone. The outfit is very comfortable and I like the way it turned out. I find it a great compromise between style and comfort, not giving in to any hurting the other. what do you think?
I was wearing:
DKNY dress
Marc by Marc Jacobs bag (very old, and it's actually my first ever bag on the expensive side)
Uniqlo x Ines de la Fressage hat
c/o iGlassesshop sun glasses
Monki top
Have a nice day,
Lyosha
I love the bright neon yellow with the little black slip dress! great outfit for sightseeing, and it looks like you had a great day out!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a good week :)
Away From The Blue
So nice post my dear
ReplyDeleteI guess I had read from Cancun from you only. It is an amazing place, looks great though. Cool pics though.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually the most popular resort on Mexico but most of the tourists are either Mexicans from other regions or people of North America: Canada and the USA. Most of the travel bloggers I follow are more interested in Europe or central Asia, I guess "the new world" is a little overlooked in that perspective
DeleteWow! What a beautiful place! I love all of the museum pieces. They are truly extraordinary. So glad you are making time to visit special locations <3
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Your outfit is super cute and that looks like a wonderful place to explore.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to cancun but i heard a lot about it. I would love to explore it one day, it is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteif you ever in town, drop me a line. I'd love to meet you in person!
DeleteWhat a lovely place to be! It looks like it is a lot of fun there!
ReplyDeleteI like a good tropical vacation. I wouldn't mind visiting Cancun.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about taking Darcee to Cancun for her Baby moon cause she would love exploring the ruins but also just chilling out at the beach and it seems like Cancun offers you the ability to do both well
ReplyDeleteyes, that's a wonderful idea. You might also consider Tulum area: it's closer to many other ruins and Tulum ruins itself are better, offers better cenote (Cancun only has one operational) and has a nice ceramics museum too. Cancun is bigger on beaches (coast line is better and there is WAY less of seaweed issue) and nightlife (and also has two ruin smaller but still two) and more attractions like aquariums, dolphins and theaters/concert halls. In my opinion Cancun a more of a place to live which a tourist don't need all that much. Tulum is more compact which is very convenient because you can walk pretty everywhere there and it is easier to get to Coba ruins, Chichen Itza and my personal love of Muyul as well as Valladolid (it's a city and made in a typical colonial style, it feels very fresh after all the touristy places and Maya ruins + the best cenotes in the peninsula are there). If you are taking a baby with you (which makes less movile and parting) Tulum is a better option. I wouldn't recommend Playa Del Carmel at all though: it's mostly for a party time and drugs, generally not very safe.
DeleteWhile reading this, I miss beach & I need vitamin sea :) Lovely neon OOTD of yours at beach. Surely a good day trip for you both, thanks for the lovely photos sharing ya :) cheers Siennylovesdrawing

I loved this place it looks so different. Cancun is on my travel list since sometime now. I hope I visit it sometime in next couple of years.
ReplyDeleteThat Mayan museum looks pretty interesting. As someone who loves history, I would check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love Max's shirt! Lol. Now I need to go find that for my husband. I'm glad you two are able to get out and explore so much of Cancun. It has been on my travel bucket list for a while, so it is interesting to see the places you visit and learn more about them.
ReplyDeleteif and when you come you should definitely let me know so we can meet up! I think that would be a blast! I am very big on travels and being pregnant I actually need to move a lot because it's healthy and needed for the baby and myself too, it matches nicely with a new city to explore
DeleteThe museum looks very interesting. I love your outfit.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! We'd love to visit soon and yes, will take your advise to explore on foot. By the way, I super love your bag.
