Winter sure is a harsh season for any person living in the northern parts of the world. The temperature hits below 0 C, there is a lot of snow and such... It might be tempting to pretend to be a bear and stay at home doing nothing. But you definitely shouldn't do that. Relax, go out and do your best to enjoy the current weather. Or at least make yourself move as fast as possible to move from point A to point B and enjoy your life when you are finally at the place of destination. The key is to get dressed properly. Try more layers or use very warm items. Also thermal underwear (the simplest and cheapest being Heattech from Uniqlo) might help a lot. As for me I mix warmer items, layering and smart materials to achieve the best result.
Today I post my little outfit I wore on Friday. Met with my family, did some shopping and went to gym. Overall I was spending a fair amount of time outside so I needed to stay warm. Surely being a blogger I couldn't avoid desire to still look pretty. Did I succeed?

Tips to stay warm:
1 layers. nothing works better and if you overworked a little (is it really possible?) you can take something off
2 natural materials. trust me a fine sweater with lots of wool is way more warm than cheap synthetic material
3 wear warmer boots (it also helps to stay away from being sick with cold)
4 determine your 'chilling spot'. It is a fact we do not feel cold equally in each part of our body. Find those weaknesses and make sure to give it extra care. For example my hands tend to freeze easily that is way I always wear gloves. My husband's soft spot are his ears. He actually can go outside wearing shorts and slippers but he will definitely cover his ears to stay warm.
5 always use facial cream, it will help your face to stay out of frost bites. same goes to lipbalm, otherwise your lips might fracture.
6 if it is super cold don't be shy and wear warming 'thermal' pants and tops. People who developed it know their job, it saves a lot of trouble.
7 Relax, smile and be happy. It doesn't really help you to physically stay warmer but it helps mentally. Also crunched muscles are faster to freeze, that is a fact.

Honestly? I am not a fan of winter. I hate having to pile on clothes and protect my skin from the harshness of the winter weather. I can't wait for summer! Your outfit is adorable though.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute cozy outfit. You look lovely.

Nice outfit.. I also hate winter and can't wait for spring!
ReplyDeletethe panda sweater is so cute and I really love your coat. I haven't gotten on the heat tech clothing, opting for more natural fibers, but as I get older, I'm having a hard time adjusting to the winters!
ReplyDeleteI try to as but not when it's -17 C (it's 1F), I guess my body is too old to tolerate it with flying colors
DeleteBurr, I don't like winter either. Love the outfit, especially the panda top!
ReplyDeleteI totally read the first section of this blog post as if it were a poem, then I realised it wasn't poetry, lol! LOVE your outfit - I could totally rock that living here at 60 degrees north. :)

ReplyDeleteThis outfit is very sweet, but also very warm. In winter it's hard to be nice without dying from the cold, but you did it!
I don't mind the winter but I hate driving in the snow! It's so dangerous! I'd rather stay in with the heating on than risk going out in the ice and snow.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute and cosy in the snow! I love the panda and your coat is awesome! definitely no snow or coldness here, haha!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a nice weekend :) We spent yesterday by the bay - despite the heat! Our heatwave continues!

I really like your panda jumper, it is so cute! And you managed to create a beautiful light colored look rather than dark, as people usually tend to dress in winter.
ReplyDeleteI think winter is depressing enough to wear total black every day, hehe. Thanks!
DeleteNice panda jumper, it is a proper winter jumper.
ReplyDeleteCold weather call for hot coco and movies! Can't wait till spring-summer. I liked the panda jumper btw. Thank you for sharing!

I used to live where it was very cold. My mom is still there. She doesn't mind it. I get cold and uncomfortable way too easy to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! You look so cozy and warm!
ReplyDeleteI honestly can't believe how cold it is going to be over the next week. Try and stay warm in your adorable outfits. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the outfit. Not only does it look good, but more importantly, it is effective in keeping you warm when you are out in the elements.
ReplyDeleteThat is an adorable outfit. It's not quite as cold here, so we don't really need sweaters or jackets right now.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Oklahoma now, but we are born and raised in good ole Wisconsin. A place where the air can really hurt your face in winter. Often times in winter it gets well below freezing, and into the negative numbers. Dressing in layers is definitely key. That or staying inside all of winter, but somehow people need to eat, so... you definitely nailed the winter look. I love this outfit.

ReplyDeleteThat is one cute & cosy outfit!! I am so happy to be working from home these days when it's below 0 and snowy outside. I much prefer watching it through a window than trying to get to work in it ;)

ReplyDeleteI love the winter season because of the layering of pretty coats. That plaid looking coat looks good on you.
ReplyDeleteThat Monki coat is a gem, looks so cosy, and I'm way more likely to face the cold if I can be toasty by snuggling into something like this! Also, I force myself outside by going to the lake with a bag of seeds and feeding the ducks, swans and geese, they are VERY grateful at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteLove the coat, perfect for the cold winter months, looks like you chose a great outfit to keep warm x
ReplyDeleteI hate the winter and usually I stay home in my cozy pjs. However, loving how you are out and about in a cute outfit.
ReplyDeleteI have always thought it gets cold here but really I still live in desert. It’s not that bad. I can’t imagine it worse.

Такое классное пальто! У нас недавно были морозы до -20, просто сумасшедше холодно, вообще не понятно, в чем выходить в такую погоду. Лучше просто отсидеться дома))
ReplyDeleteFiguring out what to wear during the winter months can be tough, more so with the difference in weather we've been having. Love the over-sized coat idea.
ReplyDeleteI love that panda sweater. It's so fun and cheery. I can't imagine what it would be like to dress for snow-type weather. It doesn't snow where I live so I always imagine being able to step outside with a sweater and leather jacket and be fine hahahaha!
